Mission

  1. Maintain high clinical & technical standard through regular educational meetings, workshops, and conferences.
  2. Reduce the educational cost burden on the members through engagement of sponsors in pool funding.
  3. Maintain continuous exchange of knowledge and expertise through fellowships, collaboration and joint meetings with regional and international orthopaedic societies.
  4. Support research relevant to orthopaedics and traumatology by providing a platform for exchange of ideas, networking, and access to funds.
  5. Safer patient care and better working conditions for members through engagement, collaboration and communication with all service providers.
  6. Engage in community MSK health awareness through collaboration with government agencies, the media, and sister societies.
  7. Improve members’ awareness of legal and ethical aspects of orthopaedic practice in Oman through collaboration with government and legal bodies in Oman.
  8. Raise the society’s members awareness of the importance of cost effectiveness and efficiency in practice through collaborative efforts with all concerned government and other bodies in Oman
  9. Ensure continuity of our vision into the future by including trainee orthopaedic surgeons in the society.

Objectives

  • Improve & increase interaction and communication between orthopaedic surgeons in Oman through clinical, scientific
  • Support orthopaedic surgeons through targeted & regular education and training programs
  • Medicolegal assistance and guidance for members through specific educational and awareness activities and by engaging capable legal firms for their representation when required.
  • Raise the standard and quality of orthopaedic care according to agreed best international standards for our community.
  • Facilitate and improve collaboration between government and private establishments delivering orthopaedic care in Oman.

Applicant for Orthopaedic Society of Oman (OSO) becomes automatically a member of Oman Medical Association.

Legal cover and advice when needed provided to the member through Oman Medical Association.

Special discount rates for the activities, workshops and conferences conducted by the OSO, Oman Medical Association and other specialist Societies under the Umbrella of Oman Medical association.

Special discounts on courses fees conducted by international orthopaedic Associations and Societies. For example, the Middle East Paediatric Orthopaedic Society (MEPOS) has accepted to treat the OSO member as their Society members and offered similar discount as MEPOS members on workshops and conferences conducted by MEPOS.

Special discounts in certain hotels and restaurants through either the Oman medical association or OSO.
